Concept 1) Digital Portfolio

In Tech Tools 11.1 the authors demonstrate the use of Digital Portfolios. Since I am a very hands on person I would use the Webshots app or website to have all photos in one place. The app lets you share your own photos and order prints. This would be a great feature to have in my future classroom or teacher portfolio to represent my work. Some common things found in a Digital portfolio include a resume of personal attributes and talents, philosophy of education and references, experience, etc. In cooperating digital portfolios for students can also be a great resource. A Digital portfolio may contain all the material usually found in a paper bound portfolio, but multimedia technologies are used to present the material (Jones & Shelton, 2011; Montgomery & Wiley, 2008). Changing from paper to digital portfolios represents significant shift in how students can communicate information. This would be a cool resource to one day use in my future classroom and for personal professional use.

Concept 2) Survey and Poll Resources and Apps

In Tech Tools 11.2 authors illustrate new ways to use online surveys and polls. I feel as a future educator it is important to be connected with your students. Using an online survey called Zoomerang is a easy way to provide prompts and templates to help make the purpose of surveying apparent to students participating. Using this app would be a great attribute to the classroom because it can keep records of respondent data on file. Having online surveys are an effective way to activate prior knowledge and involve students in the learning process for a more hands on experience.

Concept 3) One-to- One Laptop Computing

One to one laptop computing means every student in a grade, school, or district has his or own computing device to use in school (College Board, the National Writing Project and Phi Delta Kappa International, 2010; Warschauer, 2006; Zucker, 2008). I find the One-to- One laptop computing to be somewhat good and bad. Technology is slowly taking over and everything is starting to be online. I strongly believe that providing students with laptops for school and educational purposes only is a great idea because not all students can afford laptops and their upkeep. The downfall with providing laptops is damage could be done and it could potentially lead to cyber bullying. Also the cost of providing each student with a Laptop can be pricey. I love incorporating technology use in the classroom but as a future educator I'm not sure about each student having access to their own laptops especially at a young age.

Conclusion
After reviewing Chapters 11 & 12 I learned a lot more on educational resources within the classroom. Some of the resources like Zoomerang and Webshots I had never heard of before. I believe as a future Educator it is important to be aware of the new and old resources technology has to offer. Technology is slowly being in cooperated more and more into the classroom each day. Finding new ideas and ways to use technology will really gives students a hands on experience.
